MADISON – Students at Columbia Elementary School wrote award-winning poetry for the Huntsville Literary Association.

In the association’s annual poetry contest, Columbia student Caroline Perkinson captured first-place honors and $100 prize money. Kennedi Nichols was in third place and earned $40.

Sarah Cooley received a commemorative medallion for her selection as honorable mention, fifth-grade language arts teacher Miranda Bolden said.

These young writers were honored at an awards ceremony at the University of Alabama in Huntsville on May 4.
