HUNTSVILLE, MADISON – Heart of the Valley YMCA will honor individuals who serve our country by offering free admission to military personnel and their families during Armed Forces Week, Aug. 3-9.

Anyone associated with the military — active, reservist, retired and immediate family members — can enjoy daily free access by showing valid and current military identification.

“All three branches of the Heart of the Valley YMCA in Madison County are participating: the Southeast and Downtown YMCAs in Huntsville and the Hogan Family YMCA in Madison,” director of communications Mary Anne Swanstrom said.

Visitors can enjoy the facilities’ amenities, including state-of-the-art fitness centers, sauna and steam rooms, group exercise classes and free childcare at all three branches.

The Southeast and Hogan Family YMCAs have swimming pools, teen centers and racquetball. Military personnel will not pay admission to Hogan Family YMCA’s new outdoor pool and splash park on Aug. 3-9.

“This is our way of saying ‘thank you’ to our military men and women who serve our country and to their families who support them,” Heart of the Valley YMCA Interim President/CEO Harold Cook said.

In addition, active-duty soldiers also are eligible for ongoing YMCA programs including free membership for families of deployed soldiers, respite childcare and scholarships for children to attend Camp Cha-La-Kee.

The Southeast YMCA’s address is 1000 Weatherly Road SW in Huntsville, and the phone number is 256-883-9622. Hogan Family YMCA is located at 130 Park Square Lane in Madison; call 256-705-9622. The Downtown Express in Huntsville is located at 101 Church St.; call 256-319-9622.
