Parker cautions drivers about back-to-school traffic

MADISON – Leave early, be patient and exercise caution.

Those suggestions come from Robby Parker, principal at Bob Jones High School, about traffic snarls on Tuesday morning, the first day that students attend class during the 2014-2015 school year.

“Hughes Road will be a mess tomorrow. Wall Triana traffic is re-routed right in front of Bob Jones,” Parker said. He was referring to the closed section of Wall Triana between Eastview Drive Extended and Brown’s Ferry Road for bridge replacement.

“Leave extra early” to arrive at school on time, Parker said.

The ongoing construction on the Bob Jones campus has not changed the route of vehicular traffic. “We will be directing traffic both in the north and south lots in the morning,” Parker said. “Once again, please leave early as the first day is extremely congested.”

Even ‘foot traffic’ will be different at Bob Jones. “Students cannot cut through the courtyard at any time, either from the C section by the cafeteria or from the gym lobby,” Parker said.

“Students will have to walk around the building to get from the auditorium hall to the cafeteria or vice versa,” he said

“I will be running wild on my crutches, but we are going to take care of” the students, Parker said in reference to his leg injury this summer.

“Follow me on Twitter to stay updated regularly. I communicate with the kids very easily and effectively that way: @rparker47,” he said.
