Christian Women’s Job Corps to open free classes

MADISON COUNTY – Christian Women’s Job Corps of Madison County is offering free classes that should help women with job hunting.

The corps now is accepting applications for the Spring 2015 semester.

“Christian Women’s Job Corps is a free, faith-based job readiness program designed to provide experiences and skills that allow our graduates to compete in the job market and create a better life for themselves and their families,” coordinator Susan Elder said.

Women who are thinking about applying can ask themselves: Do I need computer skills? Do I need help with my budget? Am I ready to improve my life?

The free classes also involve GED tutoring, Elder said.

Christian Women’s Job Corps will conduct classes at four locations in Madison County.

Inside-Out Ministries, 103 Gin Oaks Court in Madison will host 10 weeks of classes on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Individuals must submit applications by Jan. 23. Orientation will be Feb. 10; classes start Feb. 17.

Union Hill Primitive Baptist Church, 2115 Winchester Road NW will offer 12 weeks of classes on Mondays and Thursdays from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Orientation and the first day of class will be Jan. 26. Applications will be due Jan. 9.

The PLACE Ministry Center, 3911 Pulaski Pike will have 10 weeks of classes, Monday through Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Individuals can take a preliminary GED test on Feb. 3.

Applications are due on Jan. 29 at The PLACE. Orientation will be Feb. 18 with first day of class on Feb. 23.

First Baptist Church in Huntsville, 600 Governors Drive will host 10 weeks of classes, Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Applications are due on Feb. 2. Orientation will be Feb. 19 and classes start Feb. 23.

To print an application, visit cwjc.net. Individuals can pick up or drop off printed applications at First Baptist’s front office in Huntsville or Inside-Out in Madison.
