Moncrieffe named Boys & Girls Clubs Youth of the Year

HUNTSVILLE – Moesha Moncrieffe has earned the title of 2015 Youth of the Year with Boys & Girls Clubs.

Seventeen-year-old Moncrieffe is a junior at S.R. Butler High School in Huntsville.

Along with her participation with Boys & Girls Clubs of North Alabama, Moncrieffe serves as a flight commander with Air Force Junior ROTC and sings at Butler for special events, along with singing in her church choir.

In addition, she performs with Butler’s drama department and is a member of the track and softball teams. At school, she most enjoys her time with JROTC and is most interested in her math and science classes.

Moncrieffe appreciates the leadership skills that she has gained with Air Force JROTC, in which she was accepted in the Air and Training Command. She earned awards for exemplary performance (OLC), attendance, dress and appearance, longevity and physical fitness.

With Boys & Girls Clubs, Moncrieffe has been active in volunteering by picking up trash in the community, collecting food for individuals who are homeless and in need and collecting blankets for homeless people. She tutors and mentors younger members in the club.

To show respect for military personnel, she has helped to feed veterans at events and enjoys marching in the Veterans Day Parade. Moncrieffe also volunteers at Whitesburg Nursing Home.

Her favorite pastimes are the time that she devotes to JROTC, playing in softball games, running at track meets, community volunteering and attending and participating at activities her church.

Moesha’s mother is Kiesha Watkins.

After graduation in May 2016, Moncrieffe plans to study to be a nurse practitioner at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
