MADISON – Recently, TripAdvisor set out to find the top winery or craft brewery in every state based on several factors, including customer satisfaction and tours of each facility.

For the state, the travel website named Madison’s own Blue Pants Brewery as the top alcohol destination in Alabama.

“Ready to serve you craft beers, perfectly aged vintages, and heck maybe even a meal or two – these wineries and breweries pour their hearts and their finest ingredients into their work,” TripAdvisor’s Matt Moretti said in the online write-up introducing the list.

Blue Pants Brewery was the first of its kind of open in Madison, joining the ranks of the rising craft-brewery movement in the state that began a few years ago.

“We chose Blue Pants Brewery as the top brewery in Alabama due to factors such as variety in offerings, tour quality, and traveler reviews,” Moretti, senior content and media analyst, said in a statement. “Blue Pants really stood out above the competition because of the atmosphere in their tasting room, their delicious and innovative beers, and their entrepreneurial spirit – all of which visitors rave about.”

The full list for all 50 states can be found here.

The craft brewery, according to its website, has three year-round beers – Spare Pair (pale ale), Amber Waders of Grain and its flagship brew, Knickerbocker (American Red Ale), in addition to more seasonal brews in rotation.

The taproom is located at 500 Lanier Road in Madison and features a 1,200-square-foot indoor space and a 4,000-square-foot outdoor patio for musical entertainment.

The taproom opens at 3 p.m. everyday except Sundays and stays open until 10 p.m. on weeknights and midnight on Friday and Saturday.
