MADISON – One of Madison’s own, Alex Baker, recently won the American Taekwondo Foundation national championship on June 19 in Montgomery. Baker, who attends Liberty Middle School, said he competed against four other athletes from around the Southeast in the 11-12 Division to claim the prestigious award.

Baker said he trains three days per week at the Black Belt TaeKwonDo Academy in order to remain in top shape for his competitions, which has taken him all over the state.

“You just have to focus on your forms and stay focused,” Baker said.

Baker also plays baseball, basketball and AYSO soccer, where he plays as goalkeeper. Baker is currently a second-degree Black Belt.
