HUNTSVILLE – The Greater Huntsville Humane Society has hired Jill A. Gardner for the new position of chief executive officer.

Gardner will focus on increasing the capacity of the organization and fundraising for a new facility. With 25-plus years of experience with non-profits, Gardner has a record of growing the organizations.

“I have a heart for rescue dogs and have always had a dog in my life,” Gardner said. “I believe the humane society is poised for great changes with an increase in support from the community and a commitment to build a new shelter.”

Her professional resume includes director of Panoply of the Arts, executive director of Land Trust of North Alabama and church administrator at Trinity United Methodist Church.

“The Board of Directors is confident that the humane society now has both leadership and staff to build on the existing strengths and develop new directions as they continue their mission to protect and care for homeless animals while seeking forever homes for them,” board chairman Karen Corp said.
