Second mistrial declared for Eric Parker

HUNTSVILLE — For the second time, jury deliberation has ended with a mistrial for former Madison police officer Eric Parker, who faces accusations of civil rights violation and excessive force.

Parker is accused of using excessive force against Sureshbhai Patel, a resident of India who is visiting his son in Madison. The incident occurred in a Madison neighborhood near County Line Road in February. Patel was hospitalized and has partial paralysis.

In this second trial, the jury deliberated for four days before the federal judge ruled for a mistrial.
