Bermea, Mullins ‘rule’ at soccer

Athletes of the Week

MADISON – Vivian Bermea and Ally Mullins have played soccer together for eight seasons.

 

Vivian plays forward and Ally is striker and goalkeeper for AYSO’s Yellow Jackets team, Region 498 U19 Girls. “It’s fun playing with my friends and meeting new friends,” Vivian said. “Girls rule at soccer,” Ally said. “Look at the World Cup winners.”

Vivian also plays for the Crusaders at St. John the Baptist Catholic School and recently started playing basketball at St. John, where she is in third grade. Ally studies karate at Alexander’s Martial Arts.

Vivian’s parents are Eddie and Alyssa Bermea. Eddie works as an engineer at NASA Marshall Space Flight Center and Alyssa formerly worked at Marshall for 15 years. Vivian’s brother Anthony is a St. John’s sixth-grader.

Ally’s parents are Joe and Shannon Mullins. Joe serves as regional coach administrator for AYSO Region 498. Ally is a fourth-grader at Mill Creek Elementary School, and her brother Hunter is in sixth grade.

Q & A

Q: If you go out to eat, what is a place that you like to eat?

A: Vivian is crazy about Panera Bread. Ally’s favorite is Moe’s Southwest Grill.

Q: What’s your favorite food?

A: Vivian likes spaghetti and meatballs or chicken noodle soup. For Ally, it’s a chicken burrito with Sprite-lemonade mix.

Q. What are your favorite sports teams?

A. For Vivian, The Ohio State Buckeyes and University of Texas at El Paso Miners. Ally likes the U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team, which she proudly has watched play. “Roll Tide, roll,” Ally said.

Q. What’s your favorite sports memory?

A. Vivian and Ally both cherish the experience of their team winning the AYSO regional championship.

Q. What do you like to do in your free time?

A. Vivian enjoys reading any chance that she gets. Ally likes art, roller skating and hanging with friends.
