MADISON – Madison police officers have arrested two females for making and using false identity for an apartment lease.

On Nov. 6, the Madison Police Department arrested 23-year-old Akalli Carter of Madison for identity theft and 44-year-old Carla Tanner of New Market for forgery, third degree.

Carter is accused of using falsified information, including another person’s social security number, to lease a local apartment. Tanner is accused of creating and providing the falsified documents.

Detectives executed a search warrant on Nov. 6 and recovered evidence of the crime. Special agents from the U.S. Social Security Administration also assisted in the investigation. More charges may be pending.

Carter and Tanner were booked into the Madison County Jail with Carter receiving a $2,500 bond and Tanner receiving a $500 bond.
