Hankins remembers basketball three-pointer

Athlete of the Week

MADISON – Jon Daniel Hankins participates in sports because he likes to “run around and have fun.”

In basketball, Jon Daniel plays on the Hawks team as a guard for the City of Madison. He also plays soccer and enjoys running. In fact, Jon Daniel has finished two 5K races.

However, flag football is the sport that he most enjoys playing. He was responsible for the position of quarterback with the Titans, a team in Madison Upward Flag Football.

A third-grader at Columbia Elementary School, Jon Daniel participates in Math Club and Drama Club.

His parents are Mark and Jamie Hankins. Mark works as a biologic sales representative for Abbvie. Jamie, who is a registered nurse, currently is a stay-at-home mom. Jon Daniel’s siblings are Addison, a Columbia first-grader, and four-year-old Logan, who attends Mother’s Day Out at a local church.

Q: When you go out to eat in Madison, where do you like to go?

A: A fan of fried chicken, Jon Daniel likes to eat at Zaxby’s and Popeye’s restaurants.

Q: What’s your favorite food?

A: Overall, he likes ice cream better than any other food.

Q: What are your favorite sports teams?

A: Jon Daniel follows professional sports, especially the Golden State Warriors, Seattle Seahawks and Tennessee Titans.

Q: What’s your favorite sports memory?

A: From all the games in which he has played, he always will remember a three-pointer that he made in a basketball game.

Q: What do you like to do in your free time?

A: He likes to read but also allows time to play “Madden 15” on his Xbox gaming system.
