MADISON – The Chick-fil-A restaurant in Madison, 7885 U.S. 72 W. will close temporarily for renovations on Feb. 5 at 10 p.m.

The restaurant is undergoing renovations “to provide an enhanced customer experience for guests. Chick-fil-A tentatively is scheduled to re-open in early March,” Madison franchise operator Norman Dull said.

When the restaurant re-opens, the dining room will be improved, and a double-lane drive-thru pickup will be available. “It has been our pleasure to serve our loyal customers. We look forward to undergoing renovations that will help us better serve them for years to come,” Dull said.

Along with the dining room, the kitchen and exterior will undergo extensive changes. The 105-seat dining room will resemble a full-service restaurant instead of a fast-food eatery and feature Chick-fil-A’s Heritage design used for new construction across the country.

The Heritage package includes subway tiles and metals in various finishes and patinas, all complimented by an abundance of windows allowing in plenty of natural light.

“Madison guests also can stay connected through the restaurant’s free Wi-Fi. Parents will appreciate the indoor play area that will receive an updated exterior,” Dull said.

In addition, Chick-fil-A is redesigning layout of food preparation areas, refrigerators and other appliances to expedite food orders and speed of service.

“Our customer base has grown significantly since the restaurant originally opened 16 years ago in November 1999. It’s critical that we explore new kitchen designs that will help us serve guests more efficiently and consistently. We feel this new design — coupled with our incredible team members — will help us achieve that,” Dull said.

For the exterior, the drive-thru area will have multi-lane ordering points. “Motorists to place their orders at separate screens and then merge into a single lane to pay for and pick up their orders,” Dull said.

Drive-thru orders account for approximately 60 percent of Chick-fil-A’s overall business. “So speed of service is key,” Dull said. “We’ll have the ability for two drivers to simultaneously order and serve them faster.”
