MADISON – A popular summer activity for youth will return in 2016 with Upward Flag Football, sponsored by First Baptist Church of Madison.

Students in kindergarten through eighth grade for the upcoming 2016-2017 school year are eligible for Upward Flag Football.

Online registration will open on March 1. To register, visit upward.org/find-a-place-to-play.

The cost is $70 during early registration from March 1 to March 31. The cost is $75 for late registration from April 1 to April 30.

Flag football players will receive a reversible jersey, flag belt, playing card wristband, car magnet and end-of-season award (youth-sized football).

On April 23, flag football evaluations will be held at Palmer Park, Field 5 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. In case of inclement weather, the make-up date for player evaluations will be held April 30 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Practice will begin in mid-May and be held once each week at Palmer Park. The six-game season will open May 26 at Palmer Park.

Organizers are looking for volunteers to assist with evaluations and data entry and as coaches, referees, administration and other leadership roles.

Founded in 1995, Upward Sports has grown to become the largest Christian youth sports provider in the world. The program’s 360 Progression plan changes as players grow and learn more about the sport.

Starting with approximately 900 athletes in its first year, Upward Sports now has about 500,000 youth enrolled at 2,000-plus churches in 47 states. (upward.org)
