MADISON – Madison police officers have arrested two burglary suspects for a break-in on Royal Drive.

On Feb. 16, Madison police officers responded to a call for a burglary in progress at 140 Royal Drive. A citizen witnessed suspects force entry into a nearby apartment and notified police. Officers arrived and saw suspects fleeing the apartment.

After a brief foot chase, the offender was taken into custody. Officers quickly located a second suspect, who also ran from the scene. The second suspect made illegal entry into a nearby apartment and faces additional charges for that burglary.

Deaundrea Ford, 25, and Ledarius Banks, 26, both from Huntsville were arrested within minutes of the officers’ arrival. Both subjects were charged with burglary in the third degree and were booked into the Madison County Jail.

Ford was also charged with theft of property in the second degree and possession of a controlled substance with a total bond of $ 20,000.

Banks was charged with two counts of burglary in the third degree and theft of property in the second degree with total bond of $32,500.

“Madison Police Department recognizes and appreciates the response of our patrol officers, who quickly apprehended these offenders,” a department email stated.
