Eggleston reigns as finalist in National American Miss

MADISON – Nevaeh Christina Eggleston represented Madison in the National American Miss Pageant and was chosen as an Alabama State Finalist in the Junior Teen Division.

The state pageant was held in Birmingham on June 22-24. The National American Miss organization awards scholarships, prizes and trips to young women in the pageant.

During the state pageant, Eggleston won the Spirit of Participation Award, Volunteer Service plaque, third runner-up in photogenic competition, first runner-up in spokes model competition and overall winner in top model competition. During Thanksgiving week, she will travel to California as the Alabama delegate to compete for the national title.

Eggleston, 14, is a student at James Clemens High School.

Eggleston has compiled several awards in pageants across Alabama. She was named 2004 America Cover Miss, 2006 Tiny Miss Alabama, 2006 Alpha Kappa Alpha Angel, 2008 Miss Photogenic and 2008 Alpha Kappa Alpha Angel runner-up.

While attending Heritage Elementary School, Eggleston was a member of National Elementary Honor Society, Beta Club and A Honor Roll and received the Presidential Academic Award from President Barack Obama.

At Liberty Middle School, she participated in National Junior Honor Society and was an honor roll student. She served as caption of Liberty Basketball Cheerleaders and was a member of Student to Student Ambassador program.

In other activities, Eggleston has played with Madison AYSO Soccer and has played piano since she was four years old. She was a People to People Ambassador, member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority’s Betty Shabazz Delta Academy and a participant in the 2016 Eta Phi Beta Junior Cotillion.

In 2014, she earned the National Society of Black Engineers’ scholarship and worked on Redstone Arsenal in the Gains in the Education of Mathematics and Science (GEMS) program, in which she visited numerous government facilities and worked on engineering projects.

Eggleston has volunteered with Christmas Charities, Downtown Rescue Mission, veterans’ retirement homes and National Society of Black Engineers’ Robotics Camp.

She is a member of Union Chapel Missionary Baptist Church where she is involved in choir, dance ministry and Passage Youth Ministry.
