WEDC schedules two-day conference

The Women’s Economic Development Council (WEDC) will conduct the “EMPOWERment Tools to Build LEADERship” conference on Nov. 3-4. CONTRIBUTED

HUNTSVILLE – The Women’s Economic Development Council (WEDC) will hold a leadership conference for men and women focusing on “EMPOWERment Tools to Build LEADERship” on Nov. 3-4.

The conference will kick off with a reception and dinner on Nov. 3 at the Saturn V Hall at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center. The reception and dinner will run from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and will feature chief dream maker and entrepreneur Megan Watt, author of “Discover. Act. Engage,” as the speaker.

The conference will continue on Nov. 4 from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Huntsville Marriott at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center. Keynote speaker will be Jim Kouzes, best-selling author and award-winning presenter. Kouzes has co-authored best-selling books including, “The Leadership Challenge,” “The Truth About Leadership” and newly-released publication, “Learning Leadership.”

“HR Magazine” listed Kouzes as one of the Most Influential International Thinkers for 2010 and 2011. He also is the recipient of many trade awards.

The first 150 people to sign up for the leadership conference will receive a free Insights Discovery Personal Profile, valued at $200, from Debbie McGee, President and CEO of PZI International Consulting Inc.

McGee is a recognized authority on achieving organization effectiveness through the optimization of human capital assets worldwide. She is the recipient of the Global Human Resources Innovation Award from the National Foreign Trade Council.

Business partners for the conference are Davidson Technologies, LG Electronics, PZI International Consulting, Redstone Federal Credit Union, System Dynamics International, Association for Talent Development, Leadership Huntsville, Women’s Business Center of North Alabama (WBCNA), Women in Defense and the College of Professional and Continuing Studies at the University of Alabama in Huntsville.
