MADISON – Trunk-or-Treat Picnic at Dublin Park will offer a fun and viable Halloween outing for children with special needs.
The fun will start at 3 p.m. on Oct. 30 at Dublin.
The event is targeted for individuals with special needs of all ages and their families. Participants are welcome to dress up in their Halloween costumes. However, if the person prefers not to dress in costume, that option is completely acceptable.
Each trunk will provide candy and additional goodies, other than sweets, for individuals on a special diet.
Trunk-or-Treat will be open from 3 to 4:30 p.m., but the fun doesn’t end then. After the trick or treating, the guests can enjoy games, activities, pumpkin decorating and a picnic from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
The host for the event is the Making Connections ASD Networking Group of the Autism Society of Alabama.
Also working in partnership to present Trunk-or-Treat are Fitting the Pieces Networking group with the Autism Resource Foundation; Madison City Disability Advocacy Board (MCDAB); Madison Adaptive Sports Program (MASP); AMBUS; and City of Madison Parks and Recreation Department.
Individuals who plan to attend must RSVP to Norma Pedersen by emailing mc@autism-alabama.org. Deadline to RSVP is Oct. 21.
When submitting the RSVP, guests should include names and ages of each individual attending and a contact telephone number. The autism organization will reply to confirm the RSVP. Other areas of Dublin Park will be open to the general public at the same time, so guests need the RSVP to enter the Trunk-or-Treat area of the park.
Any individuals or businesses are welcome to decorate a trunk, donate candy or distribute candy and other handouts. If interested, email Pederson at mc@autism-alabama.org.
