Quick exit for both Bob Jones basketball teams in regional

HANCEVILLE-  Both Bob Jones basketball teams were in action here at Wallace State’s Tom Drake Arena in the Northwest Regional. The girls were beaten by Hoover 52-42 and the boys were beaten by Vestavia Hills 58-43.

The girls game was close until the fourth quarter. Bob Jones briefly led in the first quarter 8-6 but Hoover blew past the Patriots on a 21-0 run in the second quarter to go up 28-13 at halftime. Hoover  dominated in rebounding and second chance points piled up as Hoover maintained a double-digit lead into the fourth.

Bob Jones cut the lead to 4 in the fourth quarter but Eboni Williams hit a breakaway basket and Miya Kimber hit a 3 to put the game away.

K.K. Bullard had 13 to lead Bob Jones in scoring.

The Bob Jones boys trailed from the outset and never really threatened Vestavia.

Trey Graham’s basket in the second quarter cut the lead to 8 but Bob Jones never got any closer and the lead grew to 57-40 late in the game.

Milkyle Stewart missed all 5 of his shots including 4 from behind the 3-point line. Demontrez Brown had 15 and Chase Fiddler had 11 for Bob Jones.

Also at Wallaces St. Sparkman girls blew away Tuscaloosa County 77-37 and will face No. 2 Hoover next Tuesday for a berth in the Final four in Birmingham.

Sparkman boys fell 62-40 to Hoover.
