Pipe installation closes Hughes, Walton sections

MADISON – Weather permitting, crews will begin installing storm drainage pipe on Hughes Road just north of Clift’s Cove on May 3.

Workers will be active between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.

The city is closing this segment of Hughes Road to all traffic. Motorists driving north on Hughes Road should detour west on Gillespie Road, turn north on Wall Triana, turn east on Gooch Road and continue back to Hughes Road.

Motorists who are driving south on Hughes Road should detour west on Gooch Road, turn south on Wall Triana, turn east on Gillespie Road and continue back to Hughes Road.

In another project, employees in the Public Works Department will replace the storm water pipe at the intersection of Marion Drive and Walton Road on May 3. Weather permitting, work will continue from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This work project will close the section of Marion Drive between Walton Road and Cliff Drive. No through traffic will be allowed.

For both of these projects, city officials request motorists to consider using alternate routes. Motorists should observe all work zones signs and use caution. The city thanks residents in advance for patience and cooperation.
