Lawson’s basketball game leads to Huntingdon

MADISON – A scholarship winner and outstanding athlete, Jarquez Lawson likes basketball “for the aspect of working together to achieve a common goal.”

Lawson played basketball for the Jets at James Clemens High School. Now that he has graduated from James Clemens, he will pursue his scholarship to play the positions of guard and center for the Hawks at Huntingdon College. He will major in physical therapy.

“I love playing with a team,” Lawson said. “The dedication and commitment that basketball requires have helped mold me into the young man I am today.”

He has three younger brothers — Terrance, Mason and Taurean Dawkins. His parents are Taurean and Tajuania Dawkins, and they both work as area managers with AT&T.

“We moved back to Madison two years ago,” Jarquez said. “However, I attended West Madison Elementary School and Liberty Middle School when I was younger.”
