Local talent to fill Community Showcase at Madison Street Festival

MADISON – Throughout the Madison Street Festival on Oct. 7, the Community Showcase will energize the crowd with driving rhythms, lightning-fast karate slices and resonant harmonies of our hometown orchestra.

“The Community Showcase was formally known as the Demonstration Stage. It’s where festivalgoers can enjoy a range of performances that enlighten the senses,” MSF volunteer Shrail Heinrich said.

Located beside the Madison Gazebo on Front Street, the Community Showcase will feature performing groups every half-hour, starting at 10 a.m. through 4 p.m. The entertainers are local residents who share their skills at no charge.

“We are excited to announce the Madison City Community Orchestra will kick off our stage at 10 a.m. this year,” Heinrich said. “If readers have not heard them play before, they are in for a real treat.

Following MCCO, the lineup features a diverse mix. “We will have plenty of seating, so grab a bite to eat from one of our many delicious food vendors and then walk over to the Community Showcase to take in a show,” Heinrich said.

At 10:30 a.m., James Clemens High School Choir directed by Harris Gessner will share their vocal skills. Rocket Tae Kwon Do students will demonstrate their moves at 11 a.m. Huntsville Drumline will turn the beat around at noon.

At 12:30 p.m., Lyrique Music Studio will present a mix of acting, dancing and show tunes. Spirit Made Steel will prove their dedication to martial arts at 1 p.m. A longtime crowd favorite, the Advanced Line Dancers of Madison Senior Center will boot scoot and boogie at 1:30 p.m.

At 2 p.m., Rocket City Twirlers will show their struts and precision routines. Merrimack Hall Performing Arts Center will take the stage at 2:30 p.m. with teenagers and adults with special needs sharing upbeat dancing.

The last hour of the Community Showcase is devoted to the world of martial arts. At 3 p.m., Okinawan Karate and Kubudo Dojo will work out, followed by students from Alexander Martial Arts at 3:30 p.m.

“We are excited to have each of these groups at the Madison Street Festival. We appreciate each entertainer sharing their time and talents for the Community Showcase,” Heinrich said.

“We are proud to have Alabama Pediatric Dental Associates as the official Community Showcase sponsor,” Heinrich said.
