Jaxon Yamaguchi scores ‘hat trick’ at state

MADISON – Soccer is 14-year-old Jaxon Yamaguchi’s favorite sport because he “likes the ‘team part’ and shutting people down.”

Yamaguchi plays the position of center back with AYSO United.

A seventh-grader at Liberty Middle School, Yamaguchi is a member of Beta Club. He attends Summit Crossing Church and volunteers with students in elementary grades.

“I am an Indian Guide with the Native Sons and Daughters of Madison. My favorite things to do as a guide are camping, shooting rifles and fishing at Camp Cha-La-Kee,” Yamaguchi said.

His younger brother, Jace, is a third-grader at Heritage Elementary School. His younger sister, Jayda Yamaguchi, is in fifth grade at Heritage.

Their parents are Aaron and Regina Yamaguchi. Aaron works as a Strength Coach at Ascend Health and Wellness Consultation. Regina works as a physical therapist for Huntsville City Schools.

“We moved to Madison on the first day of school this year,” Jaxon said. “We’ve always played ball in Madison, and I’ve made a lot of friends there. We moved to go to school with our friends, and we have always heard how great the schools were.”

Q & A

Q: What are your favorite restaurants in Madison?

A: Bruster’s Real Ice Cream, Edo Japanese Restaurant, Piper and Leaf and Taziki’s Mediterranean Café.

Q: What’s your favorite food?

A: “Ice cream … and Ice cream!” Jaxon said.

Q: What are your favorite sports teams?

A: Seattle Sounders FC Soccer Club and University of Alabama football.

Q: What’s your favorite sports memory?

A: “Even though I play defense, I scored a hat trick (scored three goals) in a state game last year,” Jaxon said.

Q: What do you like to do in your free time?

A: In his spare time, Jaxon likes “to play ‘Fortnight’ and ‘Titan Fall 2’ video games. Also, playing any sport with my family and friends.”
