James Clemens welcomes Donaldson as AP

MADISON – Dr. Kerry Donaldson has accepted the position of assistant principal at James Clemens High School.

Most recently, Donaldson worked as an administrator in Florence and Athens.

“James Clemens High School offers many opportunities for students to be successful … from academics to extracurricular activities,” Donaldson said. “The area is growing, and I want to be a part of the great tradition that James Clemens High School has to offer.”

In his role at James Clemens, Donaldson will be involved with attendance, working with the Special Education Department, discipline and issuing books to students and teachers. “I will work with the administration team in those areas,” he said.

Donaldson has been working in the field of education for 14 years. “I worked at Athens Middle School in the Athens City School system as a teacher and coach for eight years, and one year as an administrator,” he said. He worked another five years in administration with Florence City Schools.

In college, Donaldson first earned an associate’s degree at Chattanooga State Community College. He completed a bachelor’s degree in education at Athens State University: At the University of North Alabama, Donaldson received a master’s degree in education and earned Education Specialist credentials.

Donaldson holds a doctorate’s degree in education from Samford University.

During his career in education, Donaldson will never forget one of his former students who invited him to his graduation ceremony from high school. “That lets me know that what we do in the moment impacts our students’ lives. They watch everything we do,” he said.

His wife Jacquelynn Donaldson works for Caterpillar Corporation. Away from school, he enjoys spending time with his family, relaxing and exercising.
