Hazel Green High School appoints new principal

HAZEL GREEN — The Madison County Board of Education approved Dr. Quinn Headen to be Hazel Green High School’s new principal at their Aug. 28 meeting. He was selected by Matt Massey, superintendent of Madison County Schools.

“Dr. Headen has the experience and qualities necessary to be a dynamic principal, and he has built a good relationship with the Hazel Green staff, students and families,” Massey said. “We foresee continued excellence in all areas at Hazel Green under Dr. Headen’s guidance.”

Today begins Headen’s first day as principal. He will be officially introduced before the home football game versus Sparkman High School Aug. 31 with the game following at 7 p.m.

Headen’s connection to Hazel Green High School dates back to 1997 when he began as a teacher. Since then, he has served in various positions including coach and assistant principal. Since 2014, Headen has managed the Hazel Green Ninth Grade Academy.

Headen is an alum of Alabama A&M University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science, Master of Arts and Education Specialist degrees. He then went on to earn a Doctor of Education degree from the University of Alabama.
