Art 4 Paws changes site to library campus

MADISON – Madison’s unique outdoor festival with a worthy purpose returns on April 13 with Art 4 Paws on the lawn of Madison Public Library at 142 Plaza Blvd.

This event allows community pets to grab all the attention from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Madison Arts Council or MAC sponsors the event.

“We’re conducting a ‘Bring an Item for a Pet” drive for donations to A New Leash on Life,” MAC President Tina Clark said. A New Leash on Life strives to make the community and entire state no-kill through spaying and neutering, adoption and advocating for homeless pets. (anewleash.org)

This year’s Art 4 Paws has changed its timing from May to April and its location from Dublin Park to the library. Cool breezes of spring with the April 13 date will refresh the pups and the people at the event on the library lawn.

“This growing event brings the love of art, pets and books together for a day of fun the entire family will enjoy, right down to Fido,” Clark said.

Local and regional artists and arts-and-crafts dealers will sell unique wares and merchandise. “You’ll find whimsical garden art, jewelry and paintings, plus fun pet items, just to name a few,” Clark said. “Art 4 Paws blends an important outreach for placing shelter animals with individuals and families, while serving up a fun atmosphere, entertainment and education.”

A New Leash on Life will conduct an adoption event onsite. Individuals and families considering a new canine or feline can use Art 4 Paws to check out candidates. “With several shelters and rescue groups on-site, you’ll have the opportunity to meet adorable four-legged friends who are looking to adopt a new family, too,” Clark said.

Food trucks will sell concessions. A children’s area will give youngsters a place for recreation.

Event sponsors include Redstone Federal Credit Union, ULock-it Storage and JustServ for volunteers. MAC’s partners for Art 4 Paws are Madison branch of the Huntsville-Madison County Public Library and A New Leash on Life.

Applications for vendors are available on MAC’s website at artsmadison.org. Click “Art 4 Paws” and then click “Art 4 Paws Applications.”

Event proceeds will benefit A New Leash on Life and Madison Public Library.
