Census reveals Triana as state’s fastest growing city (percentage wise)

MADISON – The Town of Triana is the fastest growing city in the state of Alabama — percentage wise. That’s the good news that Triana Mayor Mary Caudle is sharing with anyone that she meets.

“We have moved from last in the county to third in the county, percentage wise,” Caudle said. The Census 2020 from the U.S. Census Bureau contains the new figures.

Triana’s population now stands at 2,890 residents. Caudle said that figure represents 482.7 percentage of phenomenal growth since the last census figures.

Other municipalities in Madison County in Census 2020 included Huntsville, 215,006; Madison, 56,933; New Hope, 2,889; Owen Crossroads, 2,594; and Gurly, 816. “Triana with 2,890 people beat New Hope by one person at 2,889,” Caudle said.

“We (the Town of Triana) have even been growing since the census was taken,” Caudle said. “The next step for Triana is to get new businesses with more retail, stores, gas stations and more. We already have enough rooftops.”

Caudle has been receiving congratulations from members of the Madison County Commission for the town’s progress. “Many people have taken note of the good news for Triana,” she said.

Triana is located on the southern boundary of Madison County and is six miles from Huntsville International Airport and nine miles from I-565.

In recent years, Triana has added several subdivisions, including Bridgemill by Valor Homes, Bridgemill Ave. and Zierdt Road; Brookfield Manor by Adam Homes, Abercorn Drive at Zierdt Road; Rivers Landing by D.R. Horton, Mary Caudle Drive and Zierdt Road; Terrace at Savannah by Adams Homes, Harold Murphy Drive at Wall Triana; and The Crossings at Rivers Landing by Breland Homes and Stone Martin Builders, Hudson River Drive at Beadle Lane.

Currently, other subdivisions are under construction: Hidden Rivers townhomes by Doublehead, south of Abercorn Drive on Zierdt Road; Malvern Hill single-family homes by Stenen Development and DSLD Homes, between Landess Circle and Wall Triana; and Southern Landing single-family homes by Sticky Fingers, Murphy Circle at Wall Triana.
