Midtown elementary hosts 130 students in Queen’s Quest Chess Tournament

MADISON – Midtown Elementary School served as the venue for the year’s first team and individual over-the-board tournament on Nov. 15.

“Our newest school in the Madison system was designed for events just like this, offering plenty of room for players and families to spread out and enjoy the day. It was fabulous,” Ranae Bartlett said. Bartlett is Executive Director of Madison City Chess League.

“Thank you, Midtown, for being an excellent host, and thank you Nadia Sosonkina for taking awards ceremony photos,” Bartlett said.

Outside the cafeteria in the playground, tournament sponsor Lockheed Martin set up a cornhole game. Lockheed Martin held a silent auction of five unique chess sets in three-dimensional format as a fundraiser for MCCL.
