Annual Juneteenth Festival returns to Big Spring Park Saturday

HUNTSVILLE – Juneteenth National Independence Day is June 19, but Huntsville residents can celebrate early at the Juneteenth Festival on Saturday, June 15, in Big Spring Park.

The event, which runs from 5-9 p.m., is presented by Amazon and the City of Huntsville’s Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (ODEI). Residents are invited to enjoy live music, community engagement and cultural recognition.

“The Juneteenth Festival is designed to unite our community and raise awareness about Juneteenth National Independence Day,” said Kenny Anderson, Director of Huntsville ODEI. “It serves as a powerful reminder of our culturally diverse community’s strength and resilience. We are deeply thankful to Amazon for their invaluable support of this event.”

Festivalgoers can enjoy live performances by B2B and The Shindellas, free health screenings and complimentary haircuts. The event will also feature exhibitors, a special display by the Huntsville Revisited Museum and recognition of local Black leaders. A fireworks display will close out the festivities.

Manna House is donating food to the first 1,500 families in attendance.

“Amazon seeks to unify the community of Huntsville and surrounding areas by once again hosting the Juneteenth Festival, in partnership with the City of Huntsville’s ODEI,” said Tron Hunter, Co-President of Amazon’s Global Black Employee Network. “Volunteers from across our operational facilities will be in attendance to show their support of unity and freedom as we commemorate another Juneteenth here in Huntsville.”
