Main Street Madison seeks public input in market survey
MADISON – Main Street Madison (MSM) is asking for feedback from Madison residents in a market survey that could determine future businesses in downtown Madison.
The Economic Vitality committee, one part of the Main Street four-point approach, is launching a market study to measure how well downtown businesses are meeting Madison resident’s demand for certain goods and services. The data from the survey will be used to adjust the offerings of current businesses and potentially bring in new businesses.
“First and foremost, it’s about ensuring the vitality of our current businesses and secondary could be bringing in new business,” said MSM Executive Director Jen DeLessio.
The study will look at re- gional demographics, lifestyle, and retail data within a 20 minute range of downtown Madison and will survey both businessowners and the community.
DeLessio explained, “I would love great participation from the community in this market survey because it’s really going to inform us about what people would like to see downtown, what types of restaurants, what types of activities, all types of questions. If you live in Madison, what are the things that you feel like you need to leave Madison to purchase?”
The survey launches June 9, and the community will have until June 23 to submit their feedback. MSM will host an open house on August 26 to present the survey’s findings and continue conversations with the community.
The survey will be available online at mainstreetmadison.org or on MSM’s Facebook page.
