Baker keeps hospital in check

James Baker is one of many employees of Madison Hospital who is excited about providing healthcare to the city of Madison.

Baker plays one of the most vital roles at Madison Hospital, without him and his staff, the hospital would not be able to function.

Baker is the maintenance manager at Madison Hospital. He oversees the building automation system, medical gas distribution system, the HVAC department and the electrical department.

“I enjoy the fact that I get to meet a variety of people every day, it’s a new adventure”, Baker said.

Baker is from Toney.  He has been employed with Huntsville Hospital for 15 years.

“I was transferred to work on staff at Madison Hospital and I’ve been there for about 14 months assisting with the new hospital”, said Baker.

Although one would think to run the entire electrical department at Madison Hospital there would be a large staff, surprisingly there’s not.

“I about five people that work with me every day”, he said.

Baker expects there to be an increase of jobs at the hospital and his staff are also expecting more help as well. “We filled a position last month and hoping to fill an electrical position by next week, said Baker.

As the doors at set to open in February 2012, Baker is looking forward to the opportunity of serving the Madison community.
