Madison Gazebo Concerts open June 1

MADISON – After scheduling a varied roster of musicians, Madison Arts Council has announced the lineup for the 2017 Madison Gazebo Concerts.

On Thursday evenings in June and July, Madison Gazebo Concerts will open at 6:30 p.m. at the gazebo on Front Street on the Village Green. The free concert will close at 8:30 p.m.

For decades, the concerts have given residents a refreshing break to the workweek for relaxing to music by local artists and catch up with neighbors and friends in the audience. Food trucks will offer various snacks and concessions, such as sandwiches, artisan teas, fruit, snow cones and more.

Each week, a different MAC partner will host a free activity for children. Staff members from Madison Public Library often stage a fun, interactive craft for the youngsters. In addition, pets who have friendly personalities are welcome to attend and should be on a leash.

Opening the 2017 season on June 1 will be The Zooks. This upbeat band will perform dance favorites, rock anthems and Motown tunes. The following acts will entertain for summer 2017:

* June 8, Rock City Sweetheart.

* June 15, Calypso Vision — A slow groove with island music reminiscent of Jimmy Buffet.

* June 22, Divide by Zero — Rock covers from classic rock to smokin’ funk to kickin’ blues.

* June 29, The PMB — An individualistic style of classic rock, folk and bluegrass.

* July 6, Southern Splendor & Rocket City Chorus — A capella barbershop blending four-part harmonies.

* July 13, The Beasley Brothers — Lawson and Jackson Beasley and their band with pop/rock charts.

* July 20, JED Eye Band – Local favorite with rock from Credence Clearwater and ZZ Top to 3 Doors Down and Stone Temple Pilots.

* July 27, The Silvery Moon Band — Standards from the big-band era of phenomenal instrumental music.

Bleacher seating is limited, so concertgoers can bring lawn chairs or a picnic blanket to spread out under the shade trees. In case of threatening weather, MAC will post a message on Facebook on the afternoon of the concert.
