Local nonprofit to host fundraiser for disabled adults

HUNTSVILLE — 305 8th Street will host its Blue Jeans, Bluegrass & Bar-B-Q fundraiser Sept. 9 at the Huntsville Depot Roundhouse from 11:30 a.m. – 2 p.m.

The organization invites the public to this family-friendly event for a “casual afternoon of live music, shopping and good food.” Barbecue will be provided by Silver Spoon Catering, while two bands—Stillwater and Music by Mike—will provide the afternoon’s musical entertainment. There will also be activities for children, as well as a resident general store selling handmade items.

Tickets can be purchased online at 3058thstreet.org. The cost is $30 for adults and $10 for children 10 years old and younger. Funds raised will help provide shelter, food and other items to adults in need.

305 8th Street is a faith-based nonprofit that seeks to give a home and family to mentally disabled adults who are ineligible for government assistance, including state group homes and other services. Currently, they provide 24-hour care and supervision for more than 25 local residents.

“These are people who have nowhere else they can turn to for supportive housing and care, so 305 8th Street is the answer to their families’ prayers,” said Andrea Williams, executive director of the nonprofit.

For more information on 305 8th Street and how to donate or volunteer, visit 3058thstreet.org or call 256-489-2997. They are also on Facebook. All donations are tax-deductible.

The Huntsville Depot Roundhouse is located at 320 Church St. NW.
