Local high school students tour Trash Panda stadium

MADISON – Students in the construction academies at Bob Jones and James Clemens high schools got an inside look at minor league baseball’s new Trash Panda stadium on Wednesday.

Construction managers with Turner Universal, the general contractor, led students on a tour, pointing out various construction features, and offering insights into construction-related jobs.

Trash Panda owner Ralph Nelson was also on hand to help with the tour. The stadium is expected to be complete in time for opening day on April 15.

“What a great opportunity for students to learn career opportunities in the skilled trades industry and make the connection between classroom curriculum and tangible careers in the workforce,” said MCS spokesman John Peck.

Superintendent Robby Parker, Chief Academic Officer Dr. Heather Donaldson and district Career Coach Kaleb Owens joined students on the tour, along with their instructors, Steven Lanford at Bob Jones and Austin Burke at James Clemens.
