Severe weather expect overnight into Thursday morning

Quiet conditions early this morning across the Tennessee Valley, with only isolated light showers possible this morning.

A strong thunderstorm threat will be much more limited in the afternoon/evening window.

The main strong to severe thunderstorm threat will be late this evening and tonight as a strong cold front shifts from the Ohio Valley into the Mid South and Tennessee Valley. This front will move into a moderate to highly unstable environment aloft as it approaches the Tennessee Valley region.

The main severe threat window will be between 1 AM and 7 AM Thursday morning. The primary weather threats will be damaging winds and hail, but a couple tornadoes cannot be ruled out.

A cool, dry air mass will quickly filter into the region behind the front, bringing an end to the precipitation and thunderstorm threat by early Thursday morning.

The highs Thursday will be in the 60s despite the sunny conditions Thursday afternoon. These cool, dry conditions will continue into Friday as this modified Canadian air mass settles into the area. In fact, highs on Friday will struggle to climb above the 60 degree mark.

Saturday will get off to a cool start as good radiational cooling Friday night will drop lows back into the upper 30s to around 40 degrees. Expect a partly sunny and warmer day, with clouds returning late as moisture increases
ahead of a rapidly developing low pressure system that will approach the region Saturday night into Sunday.
