Friday morning update: Third death in Madison County confirmed
MADISON COUNTY – There are a total of 2,881 cases of COVID-19 in Alabama, according to the Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH) as of Friday, April 10, at 9 a.m. There are currently 466,396 cases of COVID-19 nationwide, with 16,703 deaths and 26,522 recovered, according to Johns Hopkins University.
Madison County has 177 confirmed cases of COVID-19 out of 1,084 total tests and three confirmed deaths. Limestone County has 35 cases out of 485 tests and no deaths.
Of 79 deaths reported statewide, 58 have been confirmed as due to the virus across the state by the ADPH. The department also reports 367 total hospitalizations due to COVID-19.
The number of total tested statewide is 20,605*, according to the ADPH.
*Total tested primarily represents tests that were satisfactorily performed by the ADPH Bureau of Clinical Laboratories (BCL), along with some data from commercial labs. Commercial labs are required, by law, to report positive tests to ADPH. Some commercial labs do not report negative specimens.
