Evening Update: COVID-19 cases slow down in Madison County, statewide still increasing
MADISON COUNTY – There are a total of 3,762 cases of COVID-19 in Alabama, according to the Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH) as of Monday, April 13, at 5 p.m. There are currently 547,627 cases of COVID-19 nationwide, with 21,662 deaths and 32,988 recovered, according to Johns Hopkins University.
Madison County has 187 confirmed cases of COVID-19 out of 1,675 total tests and three confirmed deaths. Limestone County has 37 cases out of 570 tests and no deaths.
Of 101 deaths reported statewide, 62 have been confirmed as due to the virus across the state by the ADPH. The department also reports 457 total hospitalizations due to COVID-19.
*Total tested primarily represents tests that were satisfactorily performed by the ADPH Bureau of Clinical Laboratories (BCL), along with some data from commercial labs. Commercial labs are required, by law, to report positive tests to ADPH. Some commercial labs do not report negative specimens.
