Author Linda Winstead Jones releases ‘Bigfoot and the Librarian’
MADISON – Author of 80-plus novels/novellas and short stories, Linda Winstead Jones doesn’t limit herself to one category in writing, but all her works are romance-based.
“I started with historical romance that I loved, but I’ve also written romantic suspense, paranormal romance, fantasy romance and a couple of small-town, contemporary romances,” Jones said.
Her recent book, “Bigfoot and the Librarian,” is set in a magical small town where anything is possible. An enthusiastic librarian looking for a fresh start gets more than she bargained for, Jones said.

In the 1970s, Jones discovered historical romance, which was just gaining in popularity. “I read as many as I could get my hands on, and eventually decided I could write one myself. (I could not.) I did write as a hobby for many years before I decided it was time for a more serious attempt,” she said.
When Jones was first published in 1994, she devoted full-time hours to the job. “Now and then, morning is my best time (to write), my most creative time of the day,” Jones said.
“I’m working less now, trying for a better life balance, but I still get the majority of my work done in the morning,” she said. “Most days I call it a day before lunch.”

“My husband of 52 years is retired, and my children, three boys, are grown. I have 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren,” Linda Winstead Jones said.
The couple met as members of the Lee High School Band. “In high school, I played trombone, as did my husband,” Jones said.
An avid gardener, she even has a small greenhouse. She experiments, sometimes successfully, in every season.

“My first book, ‘Guardian Angel,’ was published in August 1994, 30 years ago next month. I’m working on the next book now, ‘Ghost Town Boogie,’ which will be available in September,” Jones said. “It has been a roller coaster of a career!”
