Laugh, games ready for West Madison Winter Carnival on Saturday

West Madison Elementary School will hosts its annual winter carnival on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

“The winter carnival at West Madison is a community event, not a fundraiser,” PTA president Kristen Mitchell said. “We do it for our students and our community.” West Madison PTA sponsors the carnival.

Midway-style games like fish pond, treasure dig, basketball shoot and bowling will entertain the children. “We’ll have a huge inflatable slide and a Wii video game tournament,” Mitchell said.

Artwork by West Madison students will be on display. “We’ll be looking for the students who will capture the title, ‘Favorite Class Art,” Mitchell said. Concessions will include hot dogs, popcorn, nachos, and candy.

Wristbands for the carnival games cost $8 for youth from 3 to 18 years old.

“We’d love to see all our former students, friends and members of our community,” Mitchell said. PTA organizers expect more than 200 children and parents will attend.

West Madison parents can volunteer for the carnival by emailing Tom and Melissa Perkins at p1470@aol.com.
