Regional basketball coverage

The Bob Jones and Madison Academy boys' and girls' team are in region action.

The Bob Jones and Madison Academy girls’ basketball teams advanced to the Final 4 with wins in the Elite 8 Friday and Saturday, respectively.

Bob Jones defeated Sparkman for the fourth year in a row Friday with a 27-19 win over cross-town rival Sparkman, while the Mustangs made easy work out of Saks.

The Bob Jones boys, however, did not fare as well, as they were eliminated in the Sweet 16 by Hillcrest.

The Madison Academy boys were also eliminated in the Sweet 16 by Piedmont.

Bob Jones 27, Sparkman 17 (Elite 8)

Madison Academy 69, Saks 31 (Elite 8)

Bob Jones, 50, Bessemer City 24 (Sweet 16)

Madison Academy, 67, Ashville, 36 (Sweet 16)

BOYS

Hillcrest 49, Bob Jones 47 (Sweet 16)

Piedmont, 63, Madison Academy, 57 (Sweet 16)
