Lady Mustangs move over Ashville

The Lady Mustangs raced through the first round of regionals with a 67-36 win over Ashville.

Depth and team unity were the keys to the Madison Academy “impressive” victory, according to Coach Brian Privett.

“I’m proud of the girls for continually displaying team unity,” Privett said. “Maturity and experience showed up in a game like this.”

Junior Lydia McGee led the Lady Mustangs with 14 total points and six assists. Senior Keke Fletcher was a close second with 13 points and two assists.

Amara Mayers had 10 total points, Nyla Johnson had nine and Haley Loney had eight.

Privett said the fact that five players had such high numbers illustrates the Lady Mustangs’ team unity and trust.

Ashville Coach Dale Beason said the amount of ball handlers for Madison Academy was a major factor.

“We played them tough,” Beason said. “We just didn’t have enough horses for this race.”
