Family of the Year one step closer to being crowned
The goal of the program is to recognize families in the community that maintain wholesome family values and live their lives in a way to promote the qualities of family life that make the city of Madison a desirable place to live.
The first step in the Family of the Year nomination process is now closed.
The Family of the Year Selection Committee took nods until March 31, and committee member John Butterfield said the committee is beginning the next step in the process. Nominated families will now fill out questionnaires.
“They will be screened and it will be narrowed down to the top 3,” Butterfield said.
After that, families will go through a face-to-face interview and the winner will be announced at a city council meeting in May.
Butterfield said the winning family will receive a plaque from the city and products from local vendors. He said the family’s main responsibility is to Grand Marshal the Christmas parade and street festival.
Nominated families have until April 15 to return the questions back to the committee.
