Arts and Craft at MSF for all ages

The Arts and Crafts portion of the Madison Street Festival will be back in full swing this year.

The annual Street Festival, which will be Oct. 1, will be located on Main and Wise Street.

“There are 80 arts and crafts vendors this year- the most we’ve ever had,” said Brenda Parker, co-chair. “In 2009, we had 35.”

The Street Festival will feature many vendors coming from Mississippi, Tennessee, Georgia and of course, many from right here in Madison County.

“It takes many people to pull off a festival like this; and we’re all volunteers,” Parker said. “We start planning it after the first of each year. I think of it as throwing a big party, only you’re inviting an entire town.”

Parker said with any good party, you provide your guests with good food, entertainment and friends to share it all with.

“That’s what we do, we throw a big old party,” she said.

The vendors will be selling children’s clothing, jewelry, artwork, pottery, candle art, glasswork, pocketknives made completely of wood, and several other items.

“We have a great variety of quality handmade items, and you can get started on your Christmas shopping,” she said.

If you plan to bring the kids out, there will be a hands-on section for kids in the Children’s Area. Parker said she is excited about the Festival and she expects to it to attract another large crowd as in previous years.
