‘Frat Pack’ hosting scholarship benefit

The Frat Pack invites you to attend their classic and timeless evening on Friday, April 20 at the Surie in Madison. Tickets can be purchased at http://grandclosing.eventbrite.com

This weekend, six students from Alabama A&M University decided to award scholarships to the 2016 graduating class.

The students, Craig Mitchell, Kevin Ferguson, Patrick Moore, Julian Grant, Antwan Holt and Chris Kelly all decided to host a party, known as The Frat Pack, which would draw students and the community in for a significant cause.

The Frat Pack started with Mitchell who culminated the idea during his sophomore year. Mitchell said he was inspired by his father whom introduced him to Frank Sinatra. Mitchell said without a doubt he knew that the party would be named in honor of The Rat Pack.

“The group of guys involved in the Pack are more than just Greek affiliated,” Mitchell said. “ We are young men who all have a common interest, service.”

The group involved with the party is affiliated with different fraternities, however they all wanted to come together to bring a special unity and brotherhood within each other.

“This party is not just another Greek party; it’s designed to make an impact,” Ferguson said.

He said the event is the most anticipated party of the year.

Ferguson added the campus and even the community have bought into the brand of the Frat Pack.

“Everyone in the Frat Pack brings something different to the table, which makes it a lot easier when you are attracting people to come out and support,” he said.

This year, the Frat Pack has decided to do something different with the funds raised during the event and that is sponsoring two scholarships for the class of 2016, one for a male and female student.

“We are excited about the two scholarships because A&M has supported us in so many ways, it just feels right to be able to give back,” Mitchell said.

The Frat Pack has already hosted two parties in the past year, however, the members of the Pack all agreed this year would be the last of The Frat Pack. Mitchell has said throughout the year, they have had support to make the idea of the Frat Pack into a reality and the Pack appreciates everyone involved in the process.
