Rotary Club awards city’s top employees

Rotary Club award winners Sgt. Damian Williams, Monique Johnson and Chris Mankin.

The Madison Rotary Club gave awarded the city’s top employees Monday.

Firefighter of the Year- Chris Mankin

Mankin, a paramedic, joined the Madison Fire and Rescue in October 2002.

He works with less experienced paramedics to develop their skills and build their confidence.

He teaches EMS refresher courses throughout the year.

Mankin is also an active member of the Heavy Rescue Team. He maintains the team’s tools keeping them in an operational status. He also works at Athens Limestone Ambulance Service.

He has two sons and one daughter.  They live in the Owens Community of Limestone County.

Officer of the Year- Sgt. Damian Williams

Williams joined the Madison Police Department Oct. 9, 2006.

Williams is described as a “highly” dedicated professional law enforcement officer. He serves as the Madison Police Department ‘s training coordinator and has enhanced officers’ overall knowledge, efficiency and safety.

Williams is well known for his work in the Eric Rudolph bombing investigation.

Williams is a Madison resident and has four daughters.

Employee of the Year- Monique Johnson

Johnson is the administrative assistant to the city’s Public Works director.

She has worked for the city of Madison for almost 20 years. Johnson works as the primary point person for community communication during green trash collection transition. She also provided “strong” support for development of the new Public Works policies and procedures manual. In addition, she serves as a sounding board for crew and staff, provides knowledge of all public works function and ensures assignments are completed in a timely and professional manner.
