Belly Feathers’ party planning comes to library

Many people like to host parties but cringe at the details. An upcoming event at Madison Public Library can eliminate the hassles.

Betsy Pruitt is owner of Belly Feathers.

Party planning pro Betsy Pruitt, owner of Belly Feathers, will share her “Frazzled to Fabulous: How to Plan a Party to Remember” presentation on Aug. 25 from 2 to 3 p.m. at the library.

The books “Starting an Online Business for Dummies” and “Wedding Planning Made Easy” have featured Pruitt’s work, adult services librarian Rachel Hooper said.

“With over 10 years experience planning corporate and special events, Betsy shares practical party ideas on her blog and designs affordable party invitations and decorations as printable PDF files,” Hooper said.

Using her detail-oriented nature, Pruitt has been drawn to event planning since high school and then at the University of Alabama. “It’s fun to brainstorm for an event concept and work towards bringing that vision to life. Belly Feathers kicked off after I finished planning my wedding,” Pruitt said.

Admittedly, she has had her share of party disasters. “Every event has something that doesn’t go perfectly. The key is to recognize that they’re going to happen and know how to react to them,” Pruitt said.

Her business’ name actually is the family cat’s nickname. “When you do business online, a unique name is essential,” Pruitt said.

During her presentation, Pruitt will walk through the steps that she uses to plan an event. All these steps are “tips I’ve honed for over 10 years precisely to remove and ways to reduce stress and uncertainty for the equation. It’s a really fun session with lots of real-world examples to illustrate the tips,” she said.

“Planning memorable events is absolutely do-able at any skill level without the stress,” she said. Pruitt welcomes everyone to bring questions about their past and future parties. “I’m thrilled to help provide ideas and insight,” she said.

This program is free, open to the public and registration is not required.
