MADISON – Two diverse musicians will offer their own distinct musical styles at the Madison Gazebo Concert on July 11. Madison Arts Council (MAC) sponsors the concerts.

Bluesman Jimmy Henderson will open the concert at 6:30. Winslow Davis will entertain with his electric violin in jazz-fusion.

Henderson released a new album, “Towards The Sun,” this year with contagious charts like “Can’t Stand It” (available on itunes & cdbaby.com). Another one of Henderson’s favorites is “Blues Train From Mumbai.” He is blues at heart but adds a touch of rock to the mix.

No stranger to local venues, Henderson has performed at The Flying Monkey Theatre, Concerts in the Park, Voodoo Lounge and The Kaffeeklatsch in Huntsville and Blue Pants Brewery and The Stem and Stein in Madison, among other gigs.

Henderson’s rough-and-tumble blues style is peppered by true grit in his voice. His following is steadily increasing across North Alabama. He’s true to blues, old style yet can add new flavor to original songs.

Also on the July 11 bill, Davis has played across the Southeast for many years. As a child, he was classically trained as a violinist and played with the Huntsville Youth Orchestra. He later was in the strings section with Huntsville Symphony, Jackson Symphony Orchestra and Shoals Symphony.

In addition to violin, Davis plays acoustic and electric guitar, bass and mandolin, and, most recently, the five-string electric violin. He leads Sunday worship services at CrossWinds United Methodist Church in Harvest. Along with live performance, Davis writes, arranges and composes original music and adaptations.

Davis is available to perform at parties, weddings and receptions, grand openings and other events. He performs either solo or with the Winslow Davis Ensemble. For information, email to winslow.winslowdavis@gmail.com.

Food vendors will sell refreshments at the concert, or visitors are encouraged to bring a picnic supper. MAC will offer face painting for the children and free cookies to enjoy.

Children also can participate in an art project during the concert. The evening of entertainment is free. For more information, visit artsmadison.org.
