Police make arrest in hit-and-run

On Monday at approximately 4:00a.m., Madison Police Officers responded to a collision on Madison Boulevard near Research Boulevard involving a cyclist. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene without stopping to render aid, leaving the victim with serious injuries.


The victim was transported to Huntsville Hospital Emergency Room.
Monday evening Madison Police Detectives received information from a tipster regarding the possible identity and location of the “hit and run” offender. Detectives acted on the information provided and located the offender’s vehicle, a maroon Toyota Camry, at a residence in Madison County. Based on the information provided, detectives were also able to determine the identity of the vehicle’s driver, Bethany Paige Schrimsher, who was later located and taken into custody at a residence in Huntsville.

Bethany Paige Schrimsher, 26, of Madison County was arrested and charged with Felony Leaving the Scene of an Accident. She was transported to the Madison County Jail where she was held on a $2,500 bond.

Circumstances surrounding the collision remain under investigation by the Madison Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit.
