Madison’s graduation rate ranks second in state

MADISON – The Madison City Schools district achieved the second highest graduation rate among Alabama’s 134 school districts.

The Alabama Department of Education released graduation statistics on Jan. 15.

Madison City Schools, Mountain Brook, Satsuma and Oneonta have a graduation rate of 97 percent. Only Vestavia Hills at 99 percent ranked higher.

Alabama’s average graduation rate is 80 percent, up from 75 percent one year ago.

The Madison district often is compared to the following school systems: Homewood City School, 94 percent rate; Hoover City Schools, 92 percent; and Auburn City Schools, 91.
