Elementary students ‘Believe, Dream, Inspire’ in Reflections

MADISON – Students in Madison elementary schools delved into the fine arts for Reflections, sponsored nationally by PTA.
“Madison City PTA was delighted at 100-percent participation from all the schools in Madison City Schools,” Reflections coordinator Gun Abele said. “We saw at some schools the number of submissions explode for the program.”
Students in grades 1-3 were judged in the primary division.
For dance choreography, Kyleena Ballash from Rainbow Elementary School won first place for “Someday I Can.” Caroline Sterling from Horizon Elementary School was in second place with “Touch the Sky” and Harley Dauma at West Madison Elementary School was third for “Believe, Dream, Inspire.”
The first-place winner in literature was Caroline Votroubek of Columbia Elementary School with “The Mean Girl.” Pranaan Satheesh at Madison Elementary School was second for “Archaeology” and Columbia’s Domunique Ramirez third for “Believe, Dream, Inspire.”
Columbia’s Jenna Post and Horizon’s Zac McGee received honorable mentions in literature.
In musical composition, winners were Chloe Song, first, Mill Creek Elementary School, “Believe”; Max McGee, second, Horizon, “Knock, Knock, Knock the Cover off the Ball”; and Zac McGee, third, Horizon, “Boo and I Mean It.”
Aaron Woods was first-place winner in photography. Woods attends Columbia and named his image, “Dream to Be an American Ninja Warrior.”
Other photography standouts were Owen Bruyns, second, Rainbow, “Triceratops”; Anna Rey, third, Columbia, “The Wonderful Cotton”; and honorable mentions to Aiden Tannehill, Rainbow, “Pre-K Light” and Lauren Merschat, Columbia, “Dream in Color.”
Chloe Song of Mill Creek created “See You on Mars” to win first place in visual arts. Second-place artist Isaac Kuang from Rainbow designed “Turn Desert Into Oasis.” Ronald Wang from Columbia was in third place for “Live on the Moon.”
Jessica Wang of Rainbow submitted “Believe, Dream, Inspire” and Angela Ai from Mill Creek designed “I Love Gymnastics” to receive honorable mentions in visual arts.
